Orlando Flights: Dive into SeaWorld

A trip to central Florida on Orlando flights wouldn't be complete without a visit to SeaWorld. In this article, we'll focus on the animal attractions of this theme park, rather than on the rides. Since SeaWorld is a top destination for Orlando flights, some up-front information helps visitors enjoy the park even more after taking long Orlando flights.

Seaworld is one attraction visitors don't want to miss after their Orlando flights. The history of SeaWorld is fascinating. The park has its roots in Southern California where a group of fraternity brothers from UCLA decided to build a restaurant that had an underwater viewing feature. When that idea failed, they revamped their plans and set out to create a marine life park dedicated to the preservation of marine species and to the education of those who visit the site after Orlando flights.Their unique vision also focused on entertainment and research. SeaWorld Orlando is the sister park to the original SeaWorld in San Diego, California. Recognizing the value of Orlando flights to this tourist destination, SeaWorld opened a park there in 1973. Orlando flights have made it a prime destination ever since.

The most popular attractions to SeaWorld visitors after their Orlando flights are the dolphin exhibits. The dolphin nursery gives visitors the unique opportunity to observe mother dophins with their calves. These Atlantic bottlenose dophins are breeding successfully in captivity, assuring the species will be preserved. The animals live in Dolphin Cove, one of the largest dolphin habitats in the world, containing 700,000 gallons of water. After their Orlando flights, many visitors enjoy the limited interaction with the dolphins that's possible via hand feeding. .

If the SeaWorld dolphin exhibit captivates you, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention here Discovery Cove, a separate attraction from SeaWorld that many people visit after their Orlando flights. Discovery Cove's famous dolphin swim is just that - an opportunity to meet these amazing animals by swimming with them. Amazing!

But back to SeaWorld: In addition to the dolphins, there are many other unique experiences the park has to offer to those who visit after their Orlando flights. The Penguin Encounter is wildly popular, especially with younger children. Here you can see more than 200 penquins as a moving walkway takes you ever deeper in this frozen Arctic wonderland where it does actually snow. To complete your Arctic adventure, be sure to take the famous Wild Arctic ride that simulates a helicopter flight into the Arctic, complete with a base station where you'll be able to observe walruses, polar bears and beluga whales. Imagine, Orlando flights can take you to the Arctic!

If the peaceful Arctic isn't for you, then try the Shark Encounter, in which a moving walkway transports you to the center of the shark tank where these fierce and scary predators swim all around you. The exhibit includes several species of sharks, including sandpiper sharks, lemon sharks, sawtooth sharks, bull and nurse sharks and brown sharks. It's a sobering experience that's underscored by a foreboding musical soundtrack and subdued lighting that adds to the exhibit's spooky ambience. Despite their repuation as the most efficient predators in the ocean, the sharks in this exhibit are eerily beautiful as the swim sinuously through the water.

Another popular attraction at SeaWorld is Stingray Lagoon, a 40,000-gallon tank that's home to 200 stingrays. Here you'll have a chance to touch one of these animals as it swims by. It's said their skin feels like velvet, so be sure to find out for yourself. You can even feed the stingrays, but check the schedule so you're there at the right time. And don't miss the nursery pool that's home to the baby stingrays.

Another great exhibit at SeaWorld is Turtle Point. SeaWorld's turtle rescue project has saved over 300 of these remarkable animals. A group of them are displayed at Turtle Point, a habitat that includes a lagoon, beach and native plants. Sea turtles can live up to 50 years and grow to a length of more than 4 feet. Before their Orlando flights, many people read about these and other sea creatures.

SeaWorld is a great destination for young and old alike after their Orlando flights. It's a great combination of education about and preservation of many of our endangered denizens of the sea.
